Shipping
accidents, resulting from inaccurate or badly surveyed or compiled nautical
charts are rare, but they do happen.
When
accidents occur, the opinion of a qualified hydrographer and mariner can
be useful to the unfortunate shipping company.
Knowing and understanding what factors contributed to the ships grounding or other mishap can result in substantial damage claims against the offending charting agency.
Apportioning blame can result in substantial savings to the shipping company. Only an expert in nautical charting can determine if a shipping accident is as a result of an inaccurate chart.
